| Abstract |
|
Pseudomyxoma peritonei is a rare condilion characleri/ty] by mucinous ascites results from ilic intraperitoneal spread of mucin-producing lesion of the ovary or appendix.
Patients complain abdominal pain with distension or symptoms of the intestinal obstruction due to mucinous ascites.
Diagnosis is confirmed intraoperatively and treatment should consist of evacuation of the mucinous ascites and removal of the rnucocelc. The role of chemotherapy is uncertain and external radiation is probably of no value. This report presents one case of pseudomyxoma caused l>y rupture of the rnurocele of the appendix which experienced at Dept. of >irg. Keimyung 1 ！nivrrsity Hospital and reviewed literatures ?about it.
