Surgical Treatment for Chronic anal Fissure ： Open Lateral Internal Sphincterotomy

Abstract

We experienced the good result from Oh's modified open laternal internal sphincterotomy used for the treatment of 28 cases of chronic ana] fissure. The results were as follows: Pain whs subsided mostly within 1?2 days, and wound healed mostly in 3weeks. 3 cases of minor oozing and wound infection, respectively， and one case of granuloma were found at fissurectomy site. No fecal soiling or incontinence was complained. In one case the fissure was recurred. Although the number of patients was small and period of follow-up was short, our early results were good enough to recommend this technique both to minimize bleeding and to afford the surgeon more technical control.
