Abstract
Pseudomembranous colitis (PMC) is a frequently severe; sometimes fatal; disease which is associated with antibiotics in almost all cases. The common clinical features of PMC include abdominal pain; watery diarrhea; fever; leukocytosis; hypoalbuminemia; and hypovolemia. In severe cases; PMC may be associated with intraperitoneal fluid accumulation. However; the characteristics of the fluid are seldom described. We report two cases of PMC patients who presented with low serum-ascites albumin gradient and neutrocytic ascites; without evidence of infection; malignancy; or inflammatory peritoneal disease.
Key Words: Ascites, Pseudomembranous colitis
